This series is about the secrets that people keep, and the ones they reveal, if only partially. People modify their bodies to keep secrets—through hair color, surgeries, medicines, even clothing. Sometimes people use body modifications for the opposite reason—to express themselves through tattoos, piercings, hair color, and even sexual reassignment. Either way, we use our physical appearance to express who we want others to see when they look at us. We carry our secrets in our bodies, in our skin, and on our faces
